FDC Announces Update to Correctional Institutions Visitation Rule

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida Department of Corrections today announced an update regarding visitation at Florida’s correctional institutions. A notice of change to F.A.C. rule 33-601.722, regarding visitation was posted on the Florida Administrative Register.


Following the rule hearing on April 3, the Department evaluated all public testimony and posted today, the new draft version of the rule for public review. A second public hearing is scheduled for May 31, 2018.

There will be no changes to the normal weekend visitation schedule, unless specifically posted on the website, until after the rule making process is complete.

The current weekend visitation schedule remains in effect at institutions statewide.


Visitation Rulemaking Process – Next Steps – UPDATED

Rulemaking is governed by the provisions of the Administrative Procedure Act, Chapter 120, Florida Statutes.

Any material received after the adjournment of the public hearing will be untimely and not included as part of the rulemaking record.
